FMCSA STARTS DISTRIBUTING WARNING LETTERS!
An initial batch of 23,000 Compliance, Safety, Accountability program warning letters are now being dispatched by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to fleets as the agency commences interventions in its new program.

CSA2010 will measure carriers’ safety compliance much differently than the previous SafeStat system. Besides having their safety ratings updated monthly, carriers will be given one of three designations: “Continue to Operate”, “Marginal” or “UNFIT”.
IT IS MORE LIKELY THAT YOU WILL HEAR FROM THE FMCSA!
CSA2010 will employ COMPASS, an electronic database for keeping records on carrier safety ratings. This system, in addition to data gathered from roadside violations, and crash reports, will enable the FMCSA to monitor carrier performance, and identify those requiring intervention.
INTERVENTION LETTERS ARE COMING!
Under CSA2010, Interventions can begin and end with a Warning Letter, or can be broadened to include off-site investigations (records audits), and finally on-site investigations. All of these can include development of corrective action plans, but may also involve fines!
